Planning a Special Exit?

The morning was chaotic, the ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was magical!
What could make it more perfect than that?

Reception exits have been trending now over the last few years and have only gotten more creative as time has gone by! Here are my three favorites and tips for your special exit

The  great  things
  • They photograph beautifully
  • The lighting is magical
  • You're surrounded by loved ones
The  not  so  great  things
  • Non-biodegradable
  • Difficult to coordinate
  • Fire Hazards
What  to  consider:
  • Consider ordering longer sparklers for multiple walk throughs! This also helps when your wedding guests accidentally light theirs too early!
  • Custom sparkler tags with your names are a cute way to personalize your exit
  • Personalized sparkler buckets are also a cute way to display and store your sparklers
  • Ask your venue about fire code.

The  great  things
  • Bio-degradable options
  • Colorful and vibrant
  • Affordable option
The  not  so  great  things
  • Could mess with the cameras focusing system
  • Reflect light from flash when done in the dark
  • Messy and hard to clean
What  to  consider:
  • Check with your venue about their biodegradable policy. A lot of venues do not allow non bio-degradable send-offs and confetti fortunately has the option to be bio-degradable.
  • Consider metallic vs. bright and colorful
  • Consider whether you want fine, glittery confetti, round confetti poppers, or streamers!

The  great  things
  • Easy to clean up
  • Makes for a whimsical exit
  • Affordable
The  not  so  great  things
  • Could mess with the cameras focusing system
  • Not the best option for visibility
  • Wet and sticky
What  to  consider
  • Consider purchasing a bubble machine to turn on while you do your grand exit! This will produce more bubbles to capture in photos!
  • The time of day you choose this exit does have an affect on how your photos will look! Research bubble exits to see what you like best!
  • These can also be used for ceremony exits!

Send offs look best when a lot of people are there to celebrate, so what I suggest to all of my brides when I am creating their day of timeline, is to plan for a mock exit.

What is a mock exit?
A mock exit is a staged send-off where you will have your guests line up before the reception ends and pretend to send you off.

When do I plan the mock exit?
I always recommend mock exits after cake cutting, dinner, toasts, and first dances are done!

Why should I consider a mock exit?
Guests who leave early tend to do so after the aforementioned events listed above, so the this is the best way to be surrounded by everyone, have a large group for photos, and let loose without having to worry about corralling guests at the end of the night!
